Over the past few weeks I've had the most awesome experience working with an SEO consultant, and I just had to write about it!

But first, do you know what SEO means? I didn't, either. It stands for Search Engine Optimization - and it's simply the way to promote your online business.

All I knew is that I'm working with a totally fantastic product, but no one was visiting my Web site, let alone buying anything! Who wants to deal with that, right? So on the advice of a dear friend I called Ryan Nelson.

Now let me tell you a little bit about Ryan. He was in the military before he went to work helping people like you and me get a better handle on promoting our online businesses. I really love our military and our veterans, so when I found out that Ryan is a vet I was eager to learn more about him.

And, wow, am I glad I did! In the course of a few sessions working together, Ryan explained what SEO works and why it's important. Then he taught me about interactive marketing tools and told me to pare the list down to decide which ones I wanted to concentrate on to get started.

I picked social networking sites - but of course! - overall search engine optimizing my Web site and beefing up my content substantially with photos of me using my products and a blog with advice related to my products.

And you know what happened? People started finding my Web site! And they stayed, became customers - and more of them every day are either joining my downline right off or getting in touch with questions about doing just that!

My business is on the first page of Google results when people search for the products I'm offering. That's never happened before!

Now that I'm not working with Ryan Nelson directly, I'm continuing to read his advice on his Web site and blog. I'm amazed that Ryan's so generous with his knowledge! Do you have any idea what you've have to pay someone else to learn the things that Ryan gives away for free? I've checked out a few other SEO consultants and I know the answer - you'd be paying a lot.

Today my online business is earning me a solid income. Better still, thanks to Ryan the people who visit my Web site in the first place are almost all very interested in my business, and thanks to Ryan's tips on branding myself a lot of these folks and I are becoming friends as well as business partners!

I'd always heard the Internet businesses were the way to go. But I was skeptical, I'll admit, about ever being able to quit my horrid day job to have one. But after working with Ryan Nelson and starting to learn about SEO I'm going to be able to leave my day job in just a few months, and I couldn't be happier!

But that leaves me in a quandary. I work in an office so I can't inflate a rubber escape slide and make my exit that way. Do you think I should hang a banner over my cubicle with the words, "This resignation courtesy of Ryan Nelson, SEO guru"? Because it's thanks to Ryan Nelson and the things he knows about SEO that I'm about to have my freedom. Thanks, Ryan!!
